Gift Quilts
Hundreds of quilts are made each year and then given to organisations who need this special support. These include residential accommodation for young people and the Childrens’ Ward of Monash Hospital. We also donate quilts for not-for-profit organisations to use in their fundraising.
Quilts are made using donated materials and time, and we are generously supported in this work by a number of businesses.
A gift quilt sewing day is held when there is a 5th Wednesday in the month, and in between members share in the various stages of production.
My running group is looking for someone willing to do an occassional one-off embroidery of our emblem plus a date and name on a jacket/jumper that is presented on achieving their 400th run with our group. If anyone is interested they can contact me by email to discuss. We are prepared to pay a reasonable fee for the work. I live in the Caulfield area so someone within a reasonable distance of Caulfield would be ideal. Alas we have found that commercial businesses are not interested in one-offs and those that are are far too expensive. My email address is leechap9@tpg.com.au. Please include the words Hash Badge at the start of your message.
Hi
I am a Waverley member and would like to know how to Log In to the website. I haven’t registered a user name or password and there doesn’t appear to be any information on how to do so. Are you able to help?
Thank you
Yvonne
There is no member area on this website. Waverley Patchworkers members are sent a monthly newsletter to their email account.
I am interested in joining a chapter. My main interest is needle turn appliqué but feel I would like to share in other people’s ideas and quilting expertise.
Thanking you in anticipation,
Sincerely Rosemary Maher
I have enjoyed my membership at Waverley for quite a few years.
The recent decision of eliminating the posting the hard copy of the monthly newsletter is both arbitrary and discrimiatory.
This move disavantage members that are technolically inable to download the document.
My suggestion is to add a charge to yearly membership fee for those who prefer to receive their newsletter by mail.
I am sure that members are entitled to get their newsletter in advance of the monthly general meeting. The members should be able to gain important information without going to extra inconvenience of going to sub group meetings to collect it.
I urge you to rethink this move as l believe it will prove to be most ill advised.
Hi Liz
We thought long and hard about all options including your suggestion, before making the decision to provide the Newsletter by email only, with some pick up points for members who do not have the internet.
With the website now up and running you will find more information appearing here, including details of the speaker who will be at the upcoming Monthly Meeting, once the change is implemented.

I am looking for copies or pdfs of the 2012 Quiltmania issues 88, 89, 90. I live in Nova Scotia, Canada and have been unable to find any for sale. Is it possible to access your copies. I am particularly looking for the Mystery Quilt by Yoko Saito that was published in these magazines. I am willing to pay a reasonable price. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Hi, I have a large amount of cotton fabric (mostly flat fats) and would like to donate if possible – too good to throw out!
Is there anyone I can chat to about donating?
Thanks
Kim
Waverley Quilters have been suppling quilts to Monash Children’s Hospital for many years. The dedication and care put into each an every quilt is remarkable. I am privilege to be able to gift these quilts to families and their child and see the joy this gives the family and child at often a most difficult time. I can not thank you all enough in the time and care you place on each and every quilt.
Thank you
From All the Child Life Therapy Team
I was the successful bidder in an auction for one of your quilts kindly donated to Eastern Palliative Care for fundraising. The quilt has a Christmas theme and looks amazing on my wall. It was thoroughly admired by all our guests on Christmas Day and although we have been packing away the Christmas decorations guess what!! the quilt has stayed. We couldn’t bear to put it away as we love looking at the beautiful design and bright colours you chose. My husband has been doing volunteer work writing biographies for terminally ill clients of EPC for the past three years so I am grateful we had the opportunity to bid for this beautiful piece of artwork. Many thanks to all your quilters, your effort and generosity is much appreciated. Kind regards Barbara Hoban-Guy
Thankyou, so pleased that our work is appreciated.
hi i am looking for information on a weekend retreat to join….can you please advise me if any retreats are organised in the 2nd 1/2 of the 2021 year?
Unfortunately we had to cancel our Annual Retreat in 2021 due to the uncertainty around the pandemic and rollout of vaccinations.
On 21st February I was present at the Rotary Club of Glen Waverley meeting to hear Norma Aitken speak about your Quilts for Gifts. I am a committee member for Abbeyfield Waverley, a not for profit organisation that provides accommodation for older adults. I would like to know if it were possible to put in a request for a quilt for each of our residents , or those who would like one. Would this be possible, what information do you require etc.
Dear Quilters,
I am a member of the Rotary Club of Glen Waverley and we will be holding a Charity Auction in August to raise funds for Canteen and the Glenallen School [45% each] and 10% for the Rotary Club to utilise on other projects.
Can I, on behalf of the Rotary Club ask if you would be so kind as to donate a quilt that we can use in our fund raising endeavor please?
Kind Regards and keep well,
Graeme Woolacott
I have several quilts I would like to donate to you but they need quilting. Do you have someone who can do this for you. I was going to try to do this myself but after practicing on 4 lap quilts I decided it was not a good idea. If this is acceptable to you I will bring them down on the Wednesday you will be there. Thanking you Margaret Mellahn.
