This class will provide guidance/tips/assistance to create a patchwork jacket. You can make it short (hip length) or long (knee length). It can be monochrome or multi coloured. They are quite addictive! (I am up to my 6th one)

It is a great opportunity to use up those small pieces of special fabric you have been saving. You may have a selection of Japanese style fabrics, a collection of butterfly fabrics, lots of green fabrics etc.

The construction is not difficult, and the class is suitable for anyone comfortable with using a sewing machine.

The following are the options we will cover.

1. Use a windcheater. For this method you need to use a windcheater that is at least 3 sizes larger than you would usually wear. Op Shops, menswear are good places to find them. This method can be very effective BUT I have found that the lower sleeves may be too narrow if you want to wear the jacket over thicker clothing.
2. Use an existing windcheater pattern (i.e. your old Knit Wit patterns? Or other stretch pattern) and purchase windcheater fabric and cut out a suitable size (i.e. 2-3 sizes larger than you usually wear).
3. Use commercial jacket pattern. Needs to be a simple design – no collar, simple shape etc.
