Natasha was born in China to Russian parents, lived in Uzbekistan, along with many other cities around the world, married an Irish man and now lives in Melbourne. We are glad she has settled here as the quilts she has made our inspirational. There is so much variety in the types of quilts Natasha completed over the years.

The quilt on display at the June Monthly Meeting, was Natasha’s quilt, Dazzling New York Beauty which was honoured with the Janet O’Dell Award for Retaining the Tradition, at Quilt Showcase 2024. A well-deserved award for this amazing quilt. The quilt also featured in Quilters Companion, November/December 2024. Congratulations to Natasha!

Natasha provided a detailed account of her quilting journey, presenting it with sincerity and depth. She illustrated the progression of her style, from initial patchwork attempts to her present-day bold and contemporary creations. Natasha’s narrative demonstrated her profound appreciation for colour, texture, and the art of storytelling through fabric.

One of the highlights of her presentation was the stunning selection of quilts she brought along. Each piece had a story—some humorous, some heartfelt—and the craftsmanship and attention to detail were admired by all. Natasha also spoke candidly about the challenges and joys of quilt-making, encouraging members to embrace their own creative process without fear of imperfection.

Her enthusiasm was infectious, and many members commented on how inspired they felt after the talk. Natasha reminded us of the power of quilts not just as art, but as expressions of who we are and what we value.

We thank Natasha for being such a generous and engaging speaker, and for sharing her passion with us. It was a pleasure to hear her story and see her beautiful work up close.
