Tania Tanti inspires at our Monthly Meeting
At our most recent Monthly Meeting, we were honoured to welcome guest speaker Tania Tanti, an acclaimed multidisciplinary artist whose work seamlessly blends drawing, painting, and quilting into vivid, dreamlike landscapes and gardens. Her visit proved to be not only visually inspiring but deeply thought-provoking for all who attended.
After a visit to the International Quilt Festival in Houston, Tania realised the world of patchwork is large and vast, which inspired her to create her work today. She then went on to enter quilts into QuiltCon, a quilt show organised by the Modern Quilt Guild in America. Tania’s work is characterized by its vivid dreamlike quality. Her pieces feature lush gardens and fantastical landscapes, brought to life through her masterful use of colour and texture. Her ability to evoke both the real and the imaginary allows viewers to immerse themselves in her art, discovering new stories and meanings with each glance.
Tania has had several exhibitions of her art quilts and creates many abstract characters through her art. There have been many sold pieces of work and lots of wins at various shows in Australia and around the world, which is a testament to her amazing pieces of work. Tania says sometimes she has a plan but sometimes it is just a colour and off she goes creating.
In addition to showcasing several of her finished works, Tania brought samples of her quilted panels and framed work, offering a rare look into the behind-the-scenes evolution of her art; a messy studio in chaos out of which comes amazing pieces of art. Tania has created foundation paper piecing quilts, improv quilts along with her painted quilts. The audience was captivated by the way she builds layers not just visually, but emotionally — inviting viewers to find their own stories in her stitched landscapes.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to Tania for sharing her time, talent, and insight with us. Her visit was a reminder of the boundless creativity that emerges when we break down barriers between mediums and follow our imagination wherever it leads. We eagerly anticipate seeing where her artistic path takes her next and look forward to welcoming more inspiring voices at future meetings.
In conclusion, Tania Tanti’s inspiring presentation at our Monthly Meeting left a lasting impression on all who attended. Her unique approach to blending drawing, painting, and quilting into dreamlike landscapes and gardens has not only enriched the art world but has also touched the hearts of those fortunate enough to witness her work. We look forward to following her journey and continuing to be inspired by her creativity and vision.
