Winter Wonderland Quilt In

Over 100 members and visitors enjoyed a cosy Winter Wonderland at the Mulgrave Community Centre. After a foggy start to the day, the sun came out and streamed in through the large windows. Coats and scarves were shed and the real business of sewing, chatting, shopping and tea sipping began.

The four shops in attendance had a constant stream of browsers and customers. Lots of scissors and other tools got a good sharpening.

The Quilt In team had organised a raffle with multiple prizes which proved very popular, over $500 was raised for the Waverley Patchworkers Gift Quilt Program. There was a small welcome gift and lucky door prizes as well. Everyone who came had a wonderful time, “it was like a big warm hug” was one comment. Our grateful thanks to Rhondda and her group for all their work.

The block challenge on the theme of Winter proved to be a little too challenging. Those who did give it a go produced some lovely blocks. Lyn was the winner with her Umbrella Girl feeding the ducks.

Tables were given a mini challenge of knitting up the longest piece during the day using the wool and needles provided. Obviously there are some very fast knitters out there.

You will have to wait until 2019 for our next Quilt In, but we have just as much fun at all our activities. If you live in Melbourne, why not join with us.
