Introductory Patchwork Classes

At our recent Quilt Show we offered very low cost classes for people new to patchwork and quilting. There were four classes run on Saturday mornings immediately after the show. Twelve ladies signed up for the classes and eight members assisted the three teachers by bringing their own quilts and sharing their enthusiasm for quilting.beginnerclass1Topics covered were making a nine patch block, half square triangles, chain piecing and using basic tools. Then the group moved on to a discussion of types of batting, making the quilt sandwich and binding. In the final classes three types of appliqué were taught and then English paper piecing.beginnerclass2

The classes were a great success and some of the participants have now joined our group.
