After the business of our AGM members enjoyed viewing the huge number of quilts brought by our guest speaker, Neil Chisholm.
Neil spoke of his introduction to quilting seven years ago ‘by mistake. He had been a gardener and a painter, but due to a back injury could not pursue either of these activities. He tried making a quilt and was hooked.
Self taught, Neil claims to have broken all the rules and defied the quilt police to become a prizewinner at Quilt Showcase with his machine applique and quilting. He also teaches at his studio in Bunningyong and writes regularly for a quilting magazine.
Neil really had a great time at Waverley Patchworkers, you can read his comments here.
Enjoy just a few of the quilts that were shown from the various styles he prefers – Civil War and Regency being among his favourites.
I would like to thank Waverley Patchworkers for the monetary prize that was donated for my first place win in the open 80% hand stitched and 20% machine sewn category at the recent Lilydale Show. It was a lovely surprise and was very kind of you. Regards, Liz.
