We were joined at the 2024 Quilt Show opening by an impressive line up of local politicians and community representatives. Along with speeches there was some friendly banter with almost a promise to have a go at making a quilt, sometime in the distant future.

Seen with the Quilt Show Committee Chair Linda Crouch and Waverley President Jill Abery are John Mullahy, State Member for Glen Waverley, Cr Nicky Lou, Mayor, City of Monash, Dr Cerina Garland, Federal Member for Chisholm, Matt Fregon, State Member for Ashwood, and Inspector Sarah Carmichael from Victorian Police Legacy.

Visitors to the Show vote for their favourite Quilt and this year the most popular was Singing in the Rain, an original quilt design by Allison Stevens-Spink. This quilt was also selected by the President for the Dawn Burrows Award.

The June Lyons Award is selected by the Quilt Show Committee, this year Cheryl Meyer was the thrilled winner with her version of Kelmscott. The Marie Hart Award for a beginning quilter was again selected by Ronnie in memory of her dear friend. The award went to Dresden Plates – Same but Different by Heather Stephens.

Once again we had an excellent response to the Anything Goes with a touch of the Blues challenge. Viewers voted for Leunig’s Lullaby by Heather A Woods for the Morna Sturrock Award.

The stunning raffle quilt Rhapsody in Blue was won by ticket number 1034 held by R. Cresp. Proceeds from this raffle go to Monash Waverley Community Information and Support Inc.
