Playing with Permission

Day 1 of Lisa Walton’s workshop involved lots of playing. Fortunately it was a lovely sunny day so tables went outside and there was no worry about spilled buckets or dripping brushes. The breeze was a small challenge, but once fabrics were wet they stayed in place. Lots of beautiful colour was painted on, then the fabric was manipulated using folding, salt and sun printing with foliage from the garden. After lunch it was time to carve stamps, do rubbing with Shiva sticks and stencilling. Having everything supplied, including a huge selection of stencils, made for a very relaxing day. Everyone is looking forward to tomorrow when we put the pieces together in a collage. Lisa was so impressed with our work she was spotted snapping some of the masterpieces at the end of the day.
